Chisimba Framework Realtime Tools

I have been researching all over the internet hoping to find an open source project on application sharing in the virtual classroom. I have come across the Chisimba Framework Realtime Tools and thought this is the answer. I first couldn’t find any documentation on the avoir website as the links are not working.

I have communicated with the developers at The University of Western Cape where the Chisimba Framework is developed and I got in contact with David, the developer working on the Realtime Tools. He was kind to send me links to the documentation of how to install and user guide of the Realtime Tools.

I have not installed and tested it yet, so I let me not write to much on it now. At first what I could not see any application sharing other then the Whiteboard and two, from the documentation, it doesn’t seem to be part of the Chisimba Framework.

This Realtime Tools as also developed as an extension to the Openfire Server, which is basically an realtime instant messaging server using the XMPP protocol. I am not sure that Openfire’s IM protocols is what I really what, but need to investigate it further and also MobiCents.

I further am going to invetsigate some application sharing software by investigating the protocols and also look at MobiCents and Openfire.
