Analysis Framework

This document is a first draft of literature on the virtual classroom and application sharing and tries to classify and categories them.

The virtual classroom is classified into 3 categories namely the limited classroom, semi-perfect classroom and the perfect classroom. These categories may not be official and are as per functionalities provided by each of these classrooms. The virtual classrooms is further classified into 3 different set-ups as per arrangement of the computer equipment and Internet connection.

Another classification is done on different scenarios with assumptions on issues which are the classroom issues, software issues and network issues. Finally, some use case scenarios are presented that would be experienced in the virtual classroom.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: I have written a paper for SATNAC on Classification of Application Sharing Tools. In this paper I have a classification of tools as per the types of systems in which application sharing is integrated. These are Conferencing Systems, Thin-client Systems and Peer-to-Peer Systems. There are two additional classifications I have added to my list not mentioned in the paper namely Classroom Management Systems and web-based realtime collaboration systems discussed such as Google docs in (Application Sharing with Software as a Service (SaaS) for Use in Live Virtual Classroom ’11). Operational Transformation used by Google docs can be applied to desktop application such as Microsoft Word in the CoWord project.
